Rethinking the library experience

Engaging library staff in designing more user-friendly libraries

Libraries are facing massive challenges as users come to expect a richer experience from them. In close collaboration with 10 public libraries in Region Sjælland, UiWE used cultural analysis and design methodologies as tools to improve users’ library experience.

Together with library staff and management, we co-designed a series of communicative and spatial solutions. The results are featured in the publication, “Bibliotekets Rum” (The Library’s Spaces), with cases from the libraries as well as a general culture design toolkit.
